Introduction

Ruby General Hospital is a multispecialty hospital and the first NRI hospital of Eastern India. The Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Jyoti Basu inaugurated Ruby General Hospital on 25th April 1995, later, Mother Teresa opened the Cardiac Surgery Unit on 28th October 1995.

The motto of Ruby General Hospital is to give compassionate and most modern clinical care to the people of Eastern India. The consultants working at Ruby are the best with national repute. Dr. Kamal K. Dutta, is the Chairman cum Managing Director of Ruby General Hospital. He graduated from R.G. Kar Medical College in Calcutta and went to the United States in 1976. He is a Consultant Gynaecologist who is attached to the leading hospitals in New Jersey, USA. He was the Chairman of the Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at St. Mary’s Hospital and also the Chairman at General Hospital Center in New Jersey, USA.

Dr. Dutta is a Diplomate of American Board of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and has been awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons and also the Fellowship of American College of Gynaecologists.

He has also been awarded the highest degree for Hospital Management in the United States.
He has written numerous medical articles and published a book named “A Simple Guide to Birth ControL”
He lives in Calcutta and New Jersey, with his wife Ruby and children Tanya, Tia and Sourav.

About Us

Ruby General Hospital is the first NRI hospital in Eastern India. It is ISO 9001 : 2015 certified, NABH accredited and NABL certified tertiary care multispeciality hospital. Ruby General Hospital has a very well experienced and accomplished team of medical practitioners, technicians, nurses and other administrative staff. The Hospital has more than 200 renowned Senior Consultants of different specialties and around 50 In-house Doctors who are always available. Our Out Patient Services in 42 multi -specialties are available from 8 am to 8 pm (Monday – Saturday) and 8 am – 2 pm (on Sundays)
The 316 bedded Hospital has 5 Operation Theatres, Cath Lab, CTVS ICU, ITU, ICCU, NICU, Day Care Services, Radiology Services, Emergency Department, Pathology Services, round the clock ambulance, pharmacy and other diagnostic services. In a span of around 30 years, the hospital has performed a variety of major surgeries & Cardiac Cath Lab procedures, Cardio Thoracic Surgeries, Cancer Surgeries and other complicated surgeries / procedures with a very high success rate. Every day around 800 patients avail of our Out Patient Services.

The Hospital is equipped with the latest generation equipment and technology. 24 hours Emergency, Trauma Care, Ambulance, Pathology, Pharmacy, Dialysis and Radiology services. All types of Pathology, Hematology, Biochemistry and a number of other Diagnostics / Investigations are done here. The hospital is also equipped with MRI facilities, Mammography, 128 slice CT Scan, MRCP, MR Angio, all sorts of CT Scans, CT Angio including Cardiac CT are done here.

Around 100 beds have been exclusively dedicated for providing emergency and critical care management of patients. Maximum number of Trauma cases are treated here with a high success rate. We have the busiest and most experienced 24 X 7 Emergency department, capable of handling all sorts of medical, interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery and surgical emergencies.

This hospital currently encompasses a total of 18 floors spread across three buildings (7 + 8 + 3). There is an expansion on the number of beds to 556 along with an additional 200 new beds to the present number of beds. There is also a further plan of adding another 200 beds in 2025 making this hospital the largest standalone Non Resident Indian (NRI) Hospital in Kolkata.

Ruby Cancer Centre, a unit of Ruby General Hospital is the first NABH accredited Cancer Centre in Kolkata. It has a world class Radiation Oncology service. It also has a comprehensive Cancer Care facility with medical, surgical, radiation and palliative oncology services. We have state of the art linear accelerator Clinac iX with FFF (Flattening filter free) technology, the first of its kind in India. We are capable of doing all types of cancer radiotherapy treatment starting from the basic conventional technique to more sophisticated Intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), Image guided radiotherapy (IGRT), Rapid Arc (VMAT) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) techniques in a single machine. Besides, we have cone beam CT scanner (CBCT) attached to our machine which helps us in taking daily CT scans of our patients prior to the radiation treatment. We also have the latest version of the radiotherapy planning software which helps us to guide the radiation dose to tumor only and sparing the adjacent normal tissues thereby achieving control of the tumor with minimal side effects.

We also have a dedicated 24 channel brachytherapy set up (Gammamed Plus) with high dose rate (HDR) radioisotope source. It is also very helpful for treating some of the malignancies in females.
Ruby Cancer Centre is also the first in introducing Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator, Version 3.0 in Eastern India. It has the most user friendly contouring system Eclipse version 18, which is also a first in Eastern India. It has a dedicated CT Simulator for Radiotherapy, iCBCT – fast imaging with auto correction, RGSC motion management solution for mire targeted and accurate patient treatment. It also has FFF Photon Energy, SRS, SRT, SBRT facilities, TBI and TSET – high dosage electron energy and a 6 dimensional couch.

Apart from hospital, Ruby General Hospital also has a dedicated 24 X 7 Blood Centre which provides safe blood and blood products. The highest sensitivity test, NAT is performed for Alpha level patient safety. Ruby Home Care offers health and wellness services at home including services like nursing, physiotherapy, doctor, equipments among others.
